US Coast Guard HH-65 scale micro r/c first test drive!
First test drive (yep, never leaves the ground) of my scale project of an AS-365 Dauphin (will have US Coast Guard paint scheme). CG is off towards the back in this first test, and the heli tends to pull very much to the left when spooling up. There is a little too little clearance for the swashplate pushrods in this design still though. I'll have to cut that out before it flies at a crashable level..

US Coast Guard HH-65 scale micro r/c first test hover
First hover of the scale micro R/C helicopter version (US Coast Guard paint scheme to come). I had to move the battery in the tray in the canopy far, far forward for CG purposes. Something happens once in the middle but foremost towards the end as the heli turns CCW and I have to let off. The tail motor runs at almost full speed at this point, and I'm not sure if there was some main rotor speed or pitch increase which could have created this motion as the tail rotor wouldn't be able to keep up. It's clear that the tail motor/rotor (EDF-40h) doesn't have enough authority though, so when flying, and especially during take-off/landing, it'll most likely have to be set down by gradually dropping altitude while flying forward, in order to help the tail keep in place. There are plans in the works of changing the brushed tail motor into a brushless however..
